Art Criticism
Describe: turn the credit line information into a topic sentence. Include the name of the artist, title, date, and medium. Then provide a detailed description of the artwork based upon what you see.
Analyze: identify at least one element and one principle the artist used in the artwork. Provide examples of what the element looks like and how the principle was created.
Interpret: write about the meaning behind the artwork, story being told, why you think the artist created the artwork or a mood or feeling the artist wanted you to feel. Consider the title and how it can help you interprest the artwork.
Judge: write about why you liked or disliked the artwork. Judge the artwork based upon the
Subject View- you like or dislike the subject (what objects you see)
Composition View- you like or dislike the composition (elements and principles)
Content View- you like or dislike the meaning/ storey/ or reason why the artwork was made.
